Certified CDP A List Rating for Climate Change Response for the Third Consecutive Year

―Recognition of climate change initiatives for target setting, action, and transparency―

February 6, 2025―KDDI was scored by CDP, an international environmental NGO [Jump to the applicable section1], as being on its Climate Change A List for the third consecutive year, the highest score possible for companies with advanced environment initiatives. KDDI was recognized as a global leader in environmental activities, with its initiatives such as "target setting," "action" and "transparency" in climate change operations being scored highly.

CDP is a global non-profit organization established in 2000 that has been operating in Japan since 2005. Based on requests from institutional investors and other stakeholders worldwide who are strongly interested in environmental issues, CDP promotes corporate and municipal initiatives with regard to climate change, water resource conservation and forest preservation, while encouraging disclosures of environmental data. CDP collects, analyzes and evaluates data on the environmental activities of major companies around the globe, and recognizes top companies in this area for their initiatives and disclosures on climate change by certifying them in CDP's Climate Change A List. In FY2024, more than 24,800 companies were scored.

■About KDDI's climate change initiatives

The KDDI Group has moved up its carbon neutrality targets for Scope 1 and Scope 2 [Jump to the applicable section2] CO2 emissions to FY2030 and has set a net-zero target that will involve the elimination by FY2040 of CO2 emissions across its entire supply chain [Jump to the applicable section4], including Scope 3 [Jump to the applicable section3]. KDDI is working toward achieving its net-zero target through initiatives such as reducing the power consumption of telecommunications equipment, utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar power supplied by au Renewable Energy, and offering businesses KDDI Green Digital Solution, a lineup of digital environmental solutions, to support them in achieving carbon neutrality.
KDDI was also one of the first telecommunications companies to publish a TNFD Report addressing natural capital, including biodiversity. It works toward resolving environmental issues as it has been selected as a participating company in the Climate-Related Financial Disclosure-Based Nature-Related Financial Disclosure Support Model Project [Jump to the applicable section5], from Japan's Ministry of the Environment. As a global company, KDDI is committed to steadily reducing its environmental impact across all its business activities.

KDDI will continue its efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality and contribute to addressing the global challenge of climate change.

■About CDP's environmental disclosure and evaluation process

CDP's environmental disclosure and evaluation process is widely recognized as the gold standard in corporate environmental reporting. CDP holds the most extensive and comprehensive dataset on corporate actions, and its unique disclosure process and methodology foster a high level of reliability.
CDP evaluates companies using its detailed and independent methodology, assigning scores from A to D-, based on factors such as the comprehensiveness of disclosure, the awareness and management of environmental risks, and the demonstration of best practices in ambitious and meaningful target setting for environmental leadership. Companies that do not disclose information or do not provide sufficient data receive an F rating.
