KDDI Introduces "au Money Activity Plan" Featuring Financial Benefits with Mobile Phone Services

KDDI and Okinawa Cellular announced to launch "au Money Activity Plan", the new unlimited data usage plan (Jump to the applicable sectionNote 1) for au smartphones on September 1, 2023.
By subscribing to this plan and using financial services of au, customers will receive au PAY balance redemption benefits and service usage benefits.
Service usage benefits include five features which enhance loyalty points usage and enhance preferential interest rates.
For example, Ponta Point redemption rate on telecommunication charges will increase to up to 20% (Jump to the applicable sectionNote 2) for 12 months when using the au PAY Gold Card (annual membership fee of 11,000 yen).
This marks the first time in the Japanese mobile industry (Jump to the applicable sectionNote 3) to launch a smartphone plan offers added benefits in connection with its financial services.

■About au Money Activity Plan

7,238 yen/month. This can be lowered to 6,138 yen/month with the application of the "au Smart Value" option, which offers a monthly discount of 1,100 yen for subscribing to an eligible home Internet service or eligible other services.

  • Call charges and other fees apply separately.
  • 1,650 yen is automatically discounted for months when data usage, including tethering etc., is 3 GB or less.
  • Not applicable to "Family Discount Plus" and "au PAY Card Payment Discount." Included in the "Family Discount Plus" count.
  • Subscription to an eligible home Internet service or other service is required for "au Smart Value" discount to be applied.
    Subscription Example: In the case of au HIKARI Home Zutto Giga Toku Plan (contract term: 3 years), a basic fee of 5,610 yen/month plus an option fee of 550 yen/month are required. A contract cancellation fee of 4,730 yen may be incurred upon cancellation of the Internet service, depending on the contract period.

Unlimited data usage plans that include entertainment services in addition to financial service benefits will also be available on the same day. The "au Money Activity Plan Netflix Pack (P)," which includes Netflix (Basic Plan) and other services together with Amazon Prime, and the "au Money Activity Plan ALL STAR Pack 2," which includes seven entertainment services for video and music together with Amazon Prime, will also be offered.

    Service Usage Benefits

    Below please find the benefits available when using a set of financial services (au PAY Card/au PAY/au Jibun Bank/au Kabucom Securities) provided by the au Financial Group companies.
    Each benefit has a maximum redemption limit and a maximum applicable amount.
    When used in combination with the au PAY Gold Card, the point redemption rate and yen savings account interest rate will be further increased. Also, there will be increases in the point redemption rate for the payment of communication fees.

Charges made through au Kantan Settlement (communication fee combined payment) are not eligible for redemption when charging with au PAY Gold Card for communication fees.

KDDI and au Financial Group want to encourage customers to take an interest in saving and investing money; and to embark on "Money Activity" through the use of au services.

    When using tethering, data sharing, or international roaming communication (flat-rate global data), there is a data capacity limit. Communication speed may be limited when using a large amount of data communication or during congested time periods. 4G subscriptions limit communication speed when watching videos, etc.

    The maximum total return of 20% includes the return of regular points and Gold Reward Points.
  • (Note 3)
