"αU place" Virtual Store Space Launched, Reproducing Physical Stores in Virtual Space

―Integrating the advantages of physical stores and online experience, enabling visitors to visit MUJI and au stores from their smartphones―

KDDI Corporation

Tokyo, October 24, 2023―On October 24, 2023, KDDI will launch αU place, a virtual store space reproducing physical stores that enable people to enjoy shopping and seeing the latest items on display. Initially, six stores are ready to open, namely MUJI Ginza, Lui's/EX/store, Pokeuni Harajuku, 2G POPUP STUDIO, Hyobei, and au Style SHIBUYA MODI (au Style's virtual store).
Further, at au Style SHIBUYA MODI, visitors can consult store staff about applying for a contract to buy an au/UQ mobile model or change plans.

αU place is a virtual shopping service for customers who feel they cannot imagine what products would be like online, and who want to consult store staff. Because the service accurately reproduces the product displays and atmosphere of a physical store, visitors can see how products and POPs are displayed and therefore how and why stores want to promote certain items. Customers can then order items on the EC site simply by tapping the product. The store space is where consumers can experience latest displays simply by scanning them with a smartphone to reproduce them in virtual space.
Furthermore, in αU place, visitors can consult actual store staff from physical stores, having store staff with comprehensive knowledge explain what the products are like as well as their details. At au Style SHIBUYA MODI, visitors can consult store staff just as they would at the physical store to apply for a model change or ask about plans and the like. The purchased model will be sent to the customer's home.

Through αU place, KDDI will provide a new shopping experience that combines the advantages of being at a physical store, where customers can consult store staff and look around the store for something they like, with the advantages of online shopping, which enables visitors to enjoy shopping regardless of where they are.
