VNPT and KDDI sign Memorandum of Understanding to enter strategic partnership to provide digital services in Vietnam

On September 11, 2025, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (Headquarters: Lang Ward, Hanoi City; President & CEO: Huỳnh Quang Liêm; hereafter, "VNPT") and KDDI corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiromichi Matsuda; hereafter, "KDDI") signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enter a strategic partnership in Vietnam.

Under the newly signed MoU, VNPT and KDDI will explore collaboration in mobile telecommunication business and relating business to develop a mutually beneficial business relationship to explore the possibility to provide digital services in Vietnam, bringing in new products and services to the market and enhancing the experience of Vietnamese customers.

Pursuing the partnership's strategic goals, VNPT and KDDI seek to join forces in delivering new digital experiences to VNPT's customers that is fast, convenient, fully transparent and highly personalized – setting a new standard in the Vietnamese market.

The signing of this MoU also marks a significant milestone in the partnership between VNPT and KDDI, reaffirming the strong ties between two of the leading telecommunications enterprises in Vietnam and Japan.

■Background

  • With over 100 million people, Vietnam is witnessing a surge in internet and mobile network penetration. The government is targeting a 30% GDP contribution from the digital economy by 2030, and is driving the adoption of online services, including public administration. Meanwhile, consumer lifestyles and usage patterns are becoming increasingly diverse, creating a wide spectrum of digital service needs. To stay competitive, telecom operators must implement adaptive business models that deliver customized products and services aligned with individual user preferences.
  • VNPT is one of the leading telecommunications service providers in Vietnam, backed by a workforce of 34,000 and the country's most extensive network infrastructure – covering 99% of the population. With over 30 million mobile subscribers and 8 million broadband subscriptions, VNPT is one of the dominant CSPs in Vietnam, and is striving to become the number one provider of digital products and services in the market. ■Key Areas of Collaboration

VNPT seeks to accelerate its business expansion in Vietnam by leveraging its strong market presence and partnering with KDDI. Utilizing the technical expertise and operational know-how acquired through the deployment and management of digital services in Japan, KDDI will provide strategic guidance and technical support to VNPT's expansion efforts.
