KDDI Corporation on May 27, 2026 signed a memorandum with major Philippine telecommunications carrier Globe Telecom, Inc. (HQ: Taguig, Philippines; President & CEO: Carl Raymond R. Cruz), major Philippine conglomerate Ayala Corporation (HQ: Makati, Philippines; President & CEO: Cezar P. Consing) and Mitsubishi Corporation (HQ: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President & Representative Director: Katsuya Nakanishi) regarding a joint study of an "Intelligent City" concept in the Philippines (hereinafter the "Agreement").
The "Intelligent City" concept aims to improve the sustainability of city living and business activities by leveraging digital technologies and advanced connectivity.
KDDI has been leveraging its Digital Twin Platform that aggregates and analyzes data from facilities and people associated with the city (residents, workers and visitors) at "TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY" and advancing city and service development.
Through this Agreement, KDDI will leverage the knowledge it has cultivated in Takanawa for urban development in Makati City, Philippines. In addition, KDDI will work with its partners to explore opportunities for collaboration in data utilization, digital technologies and advanced connectivity, along with a wide variety of other fields, with the aim of improving the quality of civic life and business activities.
